'Puja has an engaging presence when teaching within the school setting. She is a dynamic and sensitive dancer, whose performances and workshops have been enjoyed by both audience members and participants.' Ranjana Ghatak, LSO Discovery Schools' Programme.

Balinesedance has a group of highly experienced teachers, who offer a range of workshops, classes and residencies in both dance and theatre. These have been specially designed to meet a wide range of ages, abilities and needs from young children to university students, from beginners to experienced dancers.

We specialize in workshops and classes for schools, ranging from single sessions to introduce children to other traditions of dance, drama, music, puppetry and story-telling, to longer courses in which children help elaborate the story, movements, dialogue and costumes as part of organizing performances.

All workshops and classes are tailored to individual requirements. Classes can focus just on dance, or additionally may include working with music, with masks and/or story-telling. We call upon our group of experienced music teachers and narrators.

Ni Madé Pujawati also runs private classes for children and young adults. Balinese and Javanese dance is highly suitable to young children from five years old. And her junior group has now performed several times at concerts at the LSO's Jerwood Hall and other venues. Her adult dance group, Lila Bhawa, has performed widely at festivals and theatres in the UK and recently performed at the Bali International Arts Festival.

We also have extensive experience of university-level work on more advanced workshops and residencies in both the UK and the USA. And Ni Madé Pujawati has run highly successful series of international lecture-performances on Balinese dance with Dr Mark Hobart. For details click here.
